  • Oswestry Crafty Knitters

    Oswestry Crafty Knitters

    Here are Angie and Barry Mills with the Crafty Knitters Group, Jay Moore
    (mayor of Oswestry) and Veronica Lillis (Deputy Lieutenant of Shropshire).
    They have all come together to celebrate the installation of a new HAJMT AE,
    located on a lamp post in Hampton Rise, Oswestry.

    The AED application came from Angie Mills who is the organiser of the Crafty
    Knitters.  Together with fellow members of the group, Angie and the Crafty
    Knitters knitted and crocheted items to sell and help raise funds for the
    AED.  They managed to raise an impressive £500.

  • Ryton and Grindle

    Meet Jonathan Hartnell-Beavis.  Jonathan is on the Parish Council for Ryton
    and Grindle, Shropshire, which comprises the two villages and surrounding countryside.
    It is home to approximately 230 residents , most of whom

    Are retired and is very popular with walkers and cyclists whom come to see
    the Ryton Parish Church, one of the 11 Grade 11 listed buildings in the
    area.

    The AED is centrally located, near the village green and situated on a cross
    roads.  Training sessions, led by a retired local doctor have been organised
    and the village fundraised for the HAJMT during the celebrations for the
    King’s coronation in May.

  • Pentervin

    Pentervin

    Pentervin is a tiny hamlet in Shropshire down a very steep hill, situated
    above the snow line.  This means in Winter the hamlet can be isolated
    because of poor access due to snowfall.

    Sarah Heaney, Sophie Kulak and Joan and Charles Price are all residents of
    the hamlet.  The application for the AED came from Matthew Heaney, Sarah’s
    husband, who made a great case for why Pentervin should receive an AED.

    The community also raised money towards the charity over an 18 month by
    organising bake sales, selling Christmas wreaths and holding raff;es.  They
    raised a massive £614 and are committed to raising more funds.  We are
    always happy to help communities like these who come together for such an
    important life saving device.

  • Litchfield City

    Litchfield City

    The HAJMT were delighted to be able to donate an AED to Lichfield City.

    We were part of a month long tour of the Knife Angel in Lichfield. This
    stunning 27ft tall contemporary sculpture consists of 100,000 knives
    confiscated by 43 police forces across the country.  It’s job is to raise
    awareness of the issues with knife crime and all forms of violence and
    aggression.

    Also in our cabinet is a Bleed Control Kit from the Daniel Beard Foundation.
    These kits contain specialist equipment to help stem extreme blood loss in
    the event of a stabbing before the emergency services arrive.

  • Mereside Community Centre, Springfield, Shrewsbury

    Mereside

    Mere Side Community Centre is on the outskirts of Shrewsbury next to

    Springfield Recreation Ground.  The centre is a hive of activity from

    quilters to keep fit.  The committee of the Centre felt it was important for

    them to have an AED in case of an emergency and donated funds to the HAJMT.

    This is wonderful example of a community understanding the importance of one
    of these potentially life saving machines and supporting a local charity.

  • Mary Stevens Park, Stourbridge

    Mary Stevens Park, Stourbridge

    Mary Stevens Park in Stourbridge is a well loved community asset.  The Park
    attracts over one million visitors each year and was given to the town of
    Stourbridge in 1931 by local industrialist and philanthropist Ernest
    Stevens, in honour of this wife Mary.

    With this in mind we were delighted to award an HAJMT AED to the Quadrangle
    in the park supported by the Croquet Club, the Sons and Daughters of Rest
    Club and 92 Café.
