    High on a Hill ….. Long Mynd, Shropshire at Church Stretton Golf Club

    We now have an AED high up on the Long Mynd, Shropshire at Church Stretton Golf Club in a hut that is used as a refuge from the elements.

    It was no mean feat installing the AED we donated and is down to the sterling efforts of Adrian Hilton. He was determined to make it happen. Due to the remote nature of the site the cabinet is powered by a combination of wind and solar power.

    Chalk Valley History Festival & HAJMT

    Chalk Valley History Festival, we did something different at the end of June!  We were delighted to support a talk entitled Fortitude: D-Day Deception by historian and author Rob Hutton, and writer and film producer Tom Petch at the Chalke History Festival. It was a very lively hour and threw up some interesting questions from the packed audience. We all love deceptions and hearing about the brilliant people who invent them.

    It’s the most wonderful week celebrating history and there is so much to do, see and more importantly listen to some of the stories from world renowned historians.

    The Chalke Valley History Trust supports an educational programme to bring history alive through the Festival of Schools and 1000’s of children attend the week.

    If you’ve never heard of this festival check it out and go next year. I couldn’t recommend it more as a fun and informative day or even week out. @chalkehistoryfestival
    We were delighted to be in association and also to spread a little more awareness about our charity slightly furhter afield.

    Wistow Rural Centre, Leicestershire

    This is a special donation to Wistow Rural Centre in Leicestershire in memory of Mark Carr.

    Mark, who was a huge personality like Henry, sadly passed away of a heart attack far too young. Funds were raised for an AED in his name from a charity golf tournament, The Bowden Cup, as Mark loved the game.

    It’s taken us some time with Annabel, Mark’s wife, to decide where we should donate an AED and she came up with the Wistow Rural Centre, as it is so close to where Mark grew up.

    It seemed the ideal location as it turned out that Richard Brooks who runs the centre also knew Henry.

    And it was a team effort as the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust provided the training.

    It just goes to show what can be done when we all work together.

    Our latest donation is at The Barn at Dinthill, Boraston, Worcestershire.

    This a small and unique events venue near Tenbury Wells run by the Roberts family. The whole family is involved and it is all hands on deck. As a family they are pillars of the rural community and are constantly giving back despite set backs in their own lives.

    Moira Roberts is seen by our AED and they are worthy recipients.

    Meole Village Community Group, Shrewsbury

    The successful applicants are Meole Village Community Group and Sally is seen with Caroline Higgins, from the Group and Julie Morgan, proprietor of Meole Village Stores, where the AED is located.

    Bernie Bentick, Meole Ward Councillor is photographed with Caroline and they are active members of the Community Group.

    Meole Matters has just been launched which is a community publication created by and for all the residents of Meole Brace. It aims to bring together important local information, issues and thoughts, along with new social connections, friendship and support.

    The Group arranges activities for the village such as Garden Trails, a classic car show and tea parties. They also fund raise for trees and benches in the community.

    Stirling work by all and worthy applicants.

  •  Greensforge Sailing Club, Staffordshire

     Greensforge Sailing Club, Staffordshire

    Greensforge Sailing Club on the banks of Calf Heath Reservoir, Gailey, Staffordshire. Here is Sally with club members Gerry, Lyndon, Keith, Ian and Kathryn.

    Calf Heath Reservoir Is primarily used by the sailing club and the Blackfords Progessive Angling Society as well as many walkers.

    The reservoir was built in the early 1700’s as a feeder for the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal system.

    Every Sunday between March and December there is competitive club racing and they also run RYA courses.

    The club has a wonderful community feel and the HAJMT was delighted to donate an AED to them.
